R. Lars Olson's death occurred at 10:30 o'clock Sunday morning,
July 30, 1916, at the family residence. Chronic liver trouble
being the cause of his death. Mr. Olson was born in Mora, Dalarne,
Sweden, Sept. 17, 1843, his death bringing him to the age of 72
years, 10 months and 13 days. At the age of twenty-five, or in
1868, he came to America, coming direct to Omaha. In 1870 he moved
to this county, settling on a homestead in the Swedish community
northeast of Hooper. On Dec. 25, 1871, he was married to Miss
Carrie Olson, who with one son, Andrew, and two daughters, Mrs.
Chas Erickson and Mrs. Andrew Erickson survive, as also five
grandchildren. In the year 1877 he, with his family moved to a farm
near Craig, where they resided for 14 years, coming back then to
Swaburg and obtaining the farm which has meant home to him ever
since. The funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon a 2 o'clock
at the late residence of the deceased. Interment was made in the
Baptist cemetery near Swaburg. Rev. K. de Freese had charge of
these services also.
