Last Rites Are Held For Eric Erickson
Funeral services for Eric G. Erickson, 84, were held Sunday at the
Congregational church in Uehling, conducted by Rev. W. A. Albright.
Mrs. Margaret Buck was soloist, with Mrs. Ivan Wedergren
accompanying. The Pallbearers were Harry Stromquist, Marvin
Mattson, Roland Larson, Ernest Strand, Lawrence Strand, and Irving
Larson. Interment was in the Baptist Cemetery at Scribner.
Mr. Erickson was born May 2, 1864 at Buffalo, N. Y. and passed away
June 11, 1948 at the Lutheran Home for the Aged in Fremont. Mr.
Erickson, a resident of Uehling for may years, was preceded in
death by his wife in 1941, Wollmer & Warne were in charge of the
service. The deceased, son of Ambrose and Karen Erickson, was born
in Buffalo, New York, May 2, 1864. He came with his parents to
Swaburg in 1875. In 1883, he was married to Christena Dahl. Except
for a short time in Box Butte County, the couple resided in the
Swaburg vicinity. They lived in Hooper for several years where Mr.
Erickson was employed in the A. H. Harms store. After retiring from
their farm in Swaburg, they moved to Uehling, where Mrs. Erickson
died in 1941. Mr. Erickson, prominent in civic life, served as
assessor of Logan township and was active in Democratic party
circles of Dodge County.
Survivors include a number of nieces and nephews. He was the last
surviving member of his family. Included among the large attendance
at the funeral were relatives and friends for Corpus Christi,
Texas, West Hollywood, California, Winside, Wakefield, Fremont,
Omaha, Lyons and Oakland.
