Andrew Erickson Rites Held Monday
Funeral services for Andrew Erickson, 70, lifelong resident of the
Swaburg community, who died Friday at the Methodist hospital in
Omaha, were held Monday afternoon. Brief rites were conducted at
1:30 o'clock at the Wollmer and Warne Funeral home in Hooper, and
at 2 o'clock at the Congregational church in Uehling, with Rev. W.
A. Albright as the officating clergyman. Interment was made in the
Baptist cemetery at Swaburg. Pallbearers were Russell Wagner, Hans
Larson, George Otteman, Arthur Gustafson, Lawrence Strand and
Carrol Johnson, Music was by Mrs. Ivan Wedergren as pianist and
Miss Georgia Rae Wedergren soloist. Mr. Erickson, who had been in
failing health for several years, had been in the Omaha hospital
since the Tuesday before his death.
The septuagenarian was born on his parents' farm in Swaburg April
21, 1877. Following his marriage to Mary Olson, also of Swaburg,
Feb. 23, 1898 the couple established a home on a farm in that
vicinity. They continued to reside there until a year ago when they
moved to the home of their daughter, Mrs. Barton Strand in Swaburg.
Surviving besides his widow and daughter, are his son, Douglas
Erickson of Swaburg; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren;
and two brothers, Eric G. Erickson, of Fremont, and Charles
Erickson. Mr. Erickson was preceded in death by his parents, a
daughter, Bernice Mae, and a brother, Ambrose Erickson.
