MARION "HOOP" JOSEPH HOOPER, a charter member of the U.S. Army's 1st Armored Division who proudly served his country in Africa and Europe during WWII, entered eternal life on Wednesday, September 11, 2013, at the age of 93. Beloved husband and by the previous marriage to the late Iris Schexnayder Hooper. Loving father of daughter and son-in-law; son and daughter-in-law; Brother of two sisters; Proud grandfather of two granddaughters; four great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The son of the late Cecil Fabian Hooper and Caro St. Martin Hooper; Brother of the late Anna Hooper Leverette. Marion was a native of a longtime resident of Metaire and for the past 10 years a resident of Slidell. He was a retired member of the Plumbers and Steamfitters Union Local # 60. He was a member of the American Legion Post # 185 . He spent many treasured moments with his special friends at the Landing in Slidell reminicising and enjoying their pot luck luncheons. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his quick wit, personality, a loving and loyal husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend.

Funeral Services at HONAKER FUNERAL HOME, 1751 GAUSE Blvd. WEST (IN FOREST LAWN CEMETERY), Slidell, LA, on Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013. Donations to the Wounded Warriors Project, www.woundedwarriorproject.org preferred, in lieu of flowers.
