Daniel William Babcock, Jr., 80, a native of New York and resident of Slidell died Monday, February 17, 2014. Beloved husband; step-father three; father of three and the late Dennis Duane Babcock. Son of the late Daniel William Babcock, Sr. and Mabel Carmeda Curtis. Brother and two sisters, the late Dorothy Bevins, Louise Kambeitz, Bertha Babcock, Jessie Bevins. Grandfather of ten; Great grandfather of seven. Mr. Babcock, who served in both the Navy and the Air Force, was a machinist for both Laitram and Lockheed Martin. He owned and operated Tru-Mor Milling, cutting cypress and producing nursery lumber. In his spare time he enjoyed shooting and sharing his knowledge as an instructor at a local range. After retirement, he spent time with the mosquito abatement program, the St. Tammany Trace, and Fort Pike. A Memorial Service was held on Friday February 21, 2014 for friends. Services were at Williams Funeral Home, 67525 Hwy. 41, Pearl River, La. Mr. Babcock will be laid to rest with full military honors at a later date.
