WINTER HAVEN - Sarah Catherine (nee Greer) Nelson, age 83, died of heart failure on Monday, August 25, 2014.
Sarah was born in Bardstown, Kentucky on February 3, 1931, to Clinton and Julia Greer. She moved to Winter Haven, in 1954, to begin a career teaching. In 1960, she married her beloved husband Hershel and moved to Auburndale. Sarah was active in her church First Christian Church (DOC). Good Shepherd Hospice and various volunteer groups throughout her life. She was an active mother and supported the Auburndale community by being a Cub Scout Den leader, Auburndale High School Band mom and member of the Auburndale Band Patrons. She continued to he an active member of Winter Haven High School's, Nifty fifty group after Hershel's death.
Sarah is proceeded in death by her parents, brother Francis C. Greer and Hershel Nelson: her husband of 49 _years. She is survived by her four sons: Paul (Leslye) of Auburndale, FL, Mark of Bardstown, KY, Bruce (Suzanne) of Leavenworth, KS, Brian (Terry) of Sunrise, FL, and four grandchildren, Dorothea, Harley, Samuel and Matthew.
Her memorial service will he held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 31st at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). 29 seventh Ave. SW. Winter Haven, FL, 33880.
