Fatal Accidents Take Two Lives During Week
Violet death overtook two Negro workmen in separate accidents early this week. Dead were Major Littleton, 65, and Z.D. Williams, 47.
Littleton was helping harvest cotton for Carroll Himmel in a field three miles north of Crosbyton at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday. He attempted to climb onto the front of a moving cotton trailer, slipped and was run over by two of the trailer's wheels.
The Elderly Negro was killed almost instantly. He had been working for Himmel here three years. His relatives at Mitford have been contacted and funeral arrangements are pending.
Williams died when a truck load of seed, which he was hauling for Jim Reed, overturned five miles west of Crowell Wednesday morning.
A resident of Crosbyton the past 40 years, Williams was born at Whitney, august 8, 1913. Funeral arrangements are pending.
Williams' survivors include his wife, Molly; two sons, Z.D. Jr., Crosbyton, L. C., Lubbock; two daughters, Mary Frances Miley and Dorothy Ray Coppage, both Crosbyton; 20 grandchildren.
