James Richard Ford was the third of four children born to James Oscar and Alpha Omega (Drabenstott) Ford of Montpelier, Indiana. He attended local Blackford County schools graduating from Montpelier High School in 1946. After graduation he served 18 months with the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, N.C. He attended Ball State College, and was enrolled in Lain Drafting College at Fort Wayne, Indiana as a student of architectural design.
He was married on November 24, 1949 in Trinity United Methodist Church of Hartford City to Miss Janet Mae Shrack, daughter of Orlando and Reva Shrack of Hartford City. They had three daughters: Linda Louise (1953), Lisa Ann (1960) and Susan Elizabeth (1962) Ford; eight grandchildren and four gr-grandchildren.
James retired from Overhead Door Corp. in Hartford City after 32 years of service in 1986. He attended Trinity United Methodist Church of Hartford City and was a lifetime resident of Blackford County. He was a member of A.A.R.P. He was preceded in death in 1989 by his wife of 40 years, and his two older siblings.
James was a grandson of Williams Jesse and Mary Jane (Conde) Ford of Hartford City; and a gr-grandson of Dr. James and America (Holton) Ford of Wabash, Indiana.
Died at age 68 years, 9 months, 17 days.
