Services for Dixie M. Mathews, of Gun Barrel City, will be held Saturday, August 23, 2014 at Eubank Cedar Creek Memorial Chapel with Bro. Eason and Mr. Jackson officiating. Interment will follow the service at Goshen Cemetery in Eustace, TX. Dixie was born on January 22, 1942 in Albany, OR to parents Ray and Dorothy (Cade) Mudgett and entered into eternal rest on August 17, 2014 at the age of 72. Dixie’s family and friends meant everything to her. She was very proud of her grandchildren. Dixie loved to sing and was a great artist, whether it was sketching or drawing. She was a wonderful cook and taught her grandsons how to cook. Dixie enjoyed working on genealogy and was the historian of her own family’s genealogical history. Dixie moved to Cedar Creek Lake area in the 80’s and worked as a teller at First National Bank, Franklin Bank, and Prosperity Bank. She had a wonderful smile, was fun and feisty. For her 60th birthday, she asked for power tools. Dixie was a “daddy’s girl” and would reminisce about her father often. She was a Methodist by faith and “God called her home.” Dixie was a very loving caring lady who will be missed by all who knew her. Dixie was preceded in death by her parents, husband Clarence Arnold Watson, they were together 16 years before his passing in 1998. She is survived by her son Rickey Cate and wife Kathy, daughter Tonya Cate, step-daughters; Stephanie Hendrix and husband Don and Laura Davis and husband Delton, a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, sisters; Sunny Roberts and Terry Meadows, special sister Sandra Thomas, other loving family members and many more friends.
