She was born April 12, 1912 in Oblong, to Martha Ann Plummer Vernon and Roy Vernon. Hazel was a graduate of Casey High School in the Class of 1928.
Funeral services were held in the Star City Church of Christ with burial in the Star City-West Cemetery in Star City, Indiana.
They are survived by six children: a daughter, Naomi Corts White, a science teacher of West Palm Beach; John R. Corts, President of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association in Minneapolis, Minn.; C. Mark Corts, Pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Winston-Salem, North Carolina; David L. Corts, Associate Minister of the Christ Church of the Valley in Phoenix, Ariz.; Thomas E. Corts, President of Samford University, Birmingham, Ala.; and Paul R. Corts, President of Palm Beach Atlantic College in West Palm Beach. They are also survived by 16 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Hazel is survived by two sisters, Ida Smith of Kansas City, Kansas and Naomi Carlen of Casey.
They were preceded in death by a son, Phillip in December. 1997.
