John I. Cechman, 77 SUNBURY John I. Cechman, 77, of 130 S. Front St., Riverfront Apartments, a former resident of Northumberland, died Tuesday afternoon in Sunbury Community Hospital. He was born March 30, 1911, in Clearfield, a son of the late John E. and Crissie Burns Cechman. He was a World War II veteran, having served with the U.S. Army in Europe. He was retired from Central Penn Wilbert Vault Co., Selinsgrove. Prior to that he worked for Keystone Burial Vault Co., Northumberland. Mr. Cechman was a member of First Baptist Church, Sunbury, where he was a former deacon, superintendent of the Sunday school and sang in the church choir. He was also a member of the Ramblers Club, American Association of Retired Persons and the Senior Action Center in Sunbury. His first wife, Gladys Marie, preceded him in death on Feb. 8, 1982. Surviving are his wife of four years, the former Jean M. Kline; three sons, John B. of Fort Myers, Fla., Fred E. of Bloomsburg and Mark A. of New Brunswick, N.J.; five grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Dorothy German of Williamsport. Six brothers and sisters preceded him in death. The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in the Zweier Funeral Home, Sunbury, by the Rev. Ronald L. Shupe. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Northumberland. Visitors may call in the funeral home after 1 p.m. Friday.
