Joel G. married Sarah A. Lees, on June 26, 1850 in Itawamba County, MS. She was born about 1833 in Alabama. He died during the Civil War. Birth dates approximated from 1850 census where he is in the home of his wife's family. James M. Lees and Mary Lees, both born in S.C. He was with Company H, 28th Mississippi Cavalry. J.J. Underwood made application for a confederate military stone, which was shipped in 1932. The cemetery listed is Bounds Cross Roads. I believe Joel and Sarah are buried here, with rock markers and for some reason Joel's military stone was not placed.

Exciting update! Someone located Mr. Underwood's marker, and it is not in the cemetery proper. Actually located off site in the woods in the Bounds community. I have elected to leave it here for now. It is possible the stone was placed in a family plot, and very likely Sarah Lees Underwood is
also buried there.
