Arvilla R. Hughes
Arvilla R. Hughes, 88, of Fulton, died Thursday, Jan. 29, at the North Mississippi
Medical Center. She was born April 29, 1909, to Mr. and Mrs. Sonny Roberts. She was
a lifelong resident of Itawamba County and a retired factory worker. She was a
member of Pine Grove Church of Christ for more than 59 years.
Services were at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, at Pine Grove Church of Christ in Fulton
with Minister Glyn Newton and Minister Russ Crosswhite officiating. Burial was in
the church cemetery.
Survivors include her husband, Homer Dee Hughes of Fulton; one daughter, Shirley
Trulove, and her husband, James, of Tupelo; five sons, Edwin Hughes and his wife,
Margaret, of Mooreville, and James Hughes, Virgil Hughes, Charles and Lamar Hughes,
all of Fulton; one sister, Della Morrison of Fulton; 22 grandchildren; 29
great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Her grandsons were the pallbearers.
She was preceded in death by a son, Hillman Hughes; a grandson, Larry Trulove; three
sisters; and nine brothers.

Was musically talented, like all the Roberts. She could play the guitar, the fiddle,
the mandolin, and the piano by ear too.
