Grover H. Pridemore, 75, of the Camp Creek Community, passed away on Tuesday afternoon, March 24, 2015, at his home. He was a loving father and friend.
Survivors include two daughters: Rita Cornwell and husband, Ken, Penny Lane and husband, Bill; son: Wayne Pridemore of the home, son: Allen Pridemore and his wife, Sabrina, of Tazewell; special grandson: Brian Pridemore of the home; special brother and his wife: G.W. and Kitty Pridemore of Kentucky; 11 grandchildren: Monte, Candi, Ashley, Crystal, Tiffany, Timmy, Stephanie, Casey, Melissa, Justin,francis,and Mason; nine great-grandchildren; five brothers and two sisters; special friends: Jeff and Diane Price, whom he thought of as a son; and all his friends at Camp Creek.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years: Rachel Lucille Pridemore on June 14, 2014; one son: Terry Pridemore; parents: Dan and Laura Pridemore; two brothers: Junior and Paul Pridemore; three sisters: Pearl Gass, Helen Morgan, and Marie Cox.
The family will receive friends from 4 – 6 p.m. on Friday at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow visitation at 6 p.m. on Friday in the funeral home chapel. The Rev. Ken Smith will officiate. Family and friends are asked to meet at Doughty-Stevens at 10 a.m. on Saturday to go in procession to Doty’s Chapel Cemetery for the 11 a.m. committal service.
Pallbearers will be Ricky Malone, Monte Cansler, Ron Gunter, John Morgan, Chris Ridings, and Jamie Parkins.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home to assist with funeral expenses.
The family wishes to express a special thanks to his caregivers at Caris and to Dr. Hartsell and staff.
