Rueben T. Atkins married twice. His first wife, Nancy Wilson died in 1865 and in 1866 he married Martha Boren. Reuben T. Atkins was a farmer, and also served in the militia in 1861 and fought in the Civil War near Dover, TN. He is presumed to have been a Union soldier.

After moving to Trigg County; KY. Rueben spent most of his life there & was a Member of the Primitive Baptist Church.
