Mrs. Gracie Lee Rutledge, 75, of Portland, who was born January 4, 1929 in Monroe, LA, died Tuesday, February 10, 2004, at her residence in Portland. She was a resident of Portland for the past fifty years, a homemaker and an EMT for the Mainline Ambulance Service in Portland for eight years, and a member of the Portland Baptist Church and the Chicot Home Extension Club.


She is survived by her husband of sixty years, Roy Hill ìBuddyî Rutledge; six children, David Rutledge and wife Linda of Marion, IL, Freda Cunningham Scroggins of Parkdale, Bruce Rutledge and wife Joy of Florence, MS, George Rutledge and wife Brenda of Portland, John Paul Rutledge and wife Beth of Maumelle, and Jennifer Hill and husband Craig of Benton; a sister, Faye Wilhite of West Monroe, LA; fourteen grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Brian Keith Cunningham; her parents, George and Beatrice Ruddle Hefley; a sister, Georgia Humphrey; two brothers, Allen and W.H. (Dub) Hefley and a niece, Virgie Sadler.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m., Thursday, February 12, in the Portland Baptist Church with the Revs. Mark Harris and Bobby John Panni officiating. Burial followed services at the Portland Cemetery under the direction of Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home of Hamburg. Pallbearers were Chris, Jared, Vinnie, Aaron, Michael and Holden Rutledge, Craig Hill, Bobby John Panni, Tony Blackwell, Jim Rogers, Brian Smith Cunningham and Don Boudreaux.
