ELDON GERALD NELSON:

1919 - 1919

This gravestone marker is located right inside Walcott Park at Lake Walcott & Minidoka Dam and Wildlife Refuge, in Minidoka County, Idaho. (A popular Picnic area, open to the Public.)

Walcott Lake and Park is NOT a Cemetery... so it was unusual to see this gravesite within the Park.

There is a black wrought-iron gate that encloses this tiny gravesite, in which rests beneath nice shady Trees, and a nice granite headstone marker has been put in. It has recently been nicely decorated as well... (THANK YOU, to whoever took care of this!!) ... It is a Pioneer gravesite, but the History of the person buried there is unknown by the submitter.

It appears that "Eldon Gerald Nelson" may have been an infant, who died and was buried in this spot. {Either that, or it is a Memorial marker for one of the Settlers or Pioneers that came through this area.}

The old historical Oregon & California Wagon Trail traveled directly through the Minidoka Wildlife Refuge and Walcott Park area. Minidoka Dam, Lake Walcott, and the surrounding area of the Wildlife Refuge, is rich in "Western" Pioneer history.
