Jessie W. Ferguson, 92, of Port Charlotte formerly of Midland, Michigan passed away February 7, 2008.

She was born June 11, 1915 in Monsey, New York to Jessie Wheat and Elizabeth (Quigg) Uppercu.

Jessie attended business school and was employed as a secretary for Insurance Brokers in New York City until her marriage. She married George William Ferguson son of George and Anna Ferguson of Spring Valley, New York. The ceremony was performed by Pastor Dr. Albert Wyckoff of Dutch Reformed Church on October 5, 1940 in Spring Valley, New York.

George worked for Dow Chemical in New York City and they lived in Pearl River, New York. Their son was born July 25, 1946.

She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and secretary of Evans Park PTA and also Den Mother in the Cub Scouts. In 1961 George was transferred to Midland, Michigan and he became Supervisor of Government Regulations. The family joined Trinity Lutheran Church and Jessie joined Bethany Circle, taught Vacation Bible School, took the Bethel Series and for 8 years served as one of the church secretaries until the family retired to Port Charlotte. Jessie was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Port Charlotte and enjoyed hobbies that they now had time for.

Jessie will be greatly missed by her son, Robert Ferguson and Christine Sauer of Albuquerque, New Mexico; sister, Jean Irene Keller of Reva, Virginia; three grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband George.

A memorial service will be held 1:30 pm, Saturday, February 16, 2008 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.

Burial will be at the Brick Church Cemetery in Spring Valley, New York in the Ferguson Family Plot.
