He received the Medal Of Honor for meritorious service at battle of Boydton Plank Road, VA Oct 27, 1864. Promoted 1st Lieutenant Dec 13, 1864 and transferred to Co M. Promoted Captain Aug 15, 1865 and transferred to Co E and also Adjutant until muster out Sept 1, 1865.
