EDWIN BEGGS DIES IN CHICAGO
Prominent Grain Dealer Dead After Long Illness
Was President Of Central Illinois Grain Company, Operating Number of Elevators-Owned Beggs Apartments In This City.
Beggs--died at 7:15 o'clock Friday morning, January 7, 1916, at St. Luke's hospital in Chicago, after an illness of one year, Edwin Beggs, of Ashland aged 65 years.
Decedent has been ill for over a year, and one week ago taken to Chicago for treatment to which he failed to respond. He was president of the Central Illinois Grain company and was one of the largest grain dealers and agriculturists in Illinois. His influence was felt in the grain markets of all the larger cities. He was the owner of Beggs flats at Second street and Capital Avenue in this city.
Surviving are his wife, three sons, Frank of Ashland; John, of St. Louis; and George Beggs, a professor at Princeton college; five daughters. Mrs. Frank McKeon, of Springfield; Miss Mary Beggs, of New York City; Miss Nell Beggs, at home and the Misses Lutie and Virginia Beggs, who are attending school at Ferry Hall, Lake Forest, Illinois.
The funeral will be held at 2 o'clock tomorrow (Sunday) afternoon at the family residence in Ashland. Burial will be in Ashland cemetery.
