Merry Faith (Cornell) Underhill, 73, of Brookston, passed away at 5:11 AM on Friday, July 25, 2014, at St. Elizabeth East Hospital in Lafayette. Born July 23, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Eunice (Hubley) Cornell. She was a 1959 graduate of East Tipp High School. On September 17, 1960, she married her husband of 53 years, Harold E. "Doc" Underhill, and he preceded her in death on September 23, 2013.
Merry worked in the Housing and Food Services Business office at Purdue University for 27 years and retired in 1997. She enjoyed going to Purdue sporting events and playing on her computer.
She is survived by three children, Tony Underhill (wife Cindy) of Leesburg, VA, Kevin Underhill (wife Tammy) of Colburn, and Kenny Underhill of Lafayette; three siblings, Michael Cornell (wife Lori) of Lafayette, Patti Swagler (husband Norm) of Camarillo, CA, and Martha Courtney (husband Larue) of Dayton; and four grandchildren, Brianna, Dylan, Morgan and Chandler Underhill. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Connie Deerr and Prudence Patton, one brother, Harold E. "Bucky" Cornell and a half-brother Morris Cornell.
Memorial visitation will be held one hour prior to the 2 PM memorial service at Hippensteel Funeral Home on Monday, July 28, 2014, with Pastor Tim Rodriguez officiating. Entombment will take place at a later date in Tippecanoe Memory Gardens Cemetery.
