He was the oldest son born to Leroy Ely Adams (1902–1989) and Marguerette Hogan.

Obituary:
A native of East St. Louis, Ill, died Feb 3, 1999 in Tucson, AZ. He was 78 years old.
Mr. Adams served in the Marine Corps during WWII and later worked as an executive for the Ford Motor company for over 40 years.
A life long volunteer and philanthropist, Mr. Adams was active in many organizations including: the Boy Scouts of America, The Marine Corps League, The Lucile Packard Foundation, and various Catholic charities and civic organizations. He recently founded the Urban Poverty council, sponsored by Our Lady of the Snows, where Mr. Adams resided since 1997.
His wife of 52 years, Dorothy Margaret Adams, and his parents Leroy E and Marguette Adams preceded Mr. Adams in death.
Surviving are his fiance Ann Wright of Tucson, AZ and his five children: Lt. Col Mary Kathleen Broussard of Louisville, KY; Margaret alexander of Birmingham, AL; Thomas Michael of Andover, Mass; Stephen Christopher of Discovery Bay, CA; and Dennis Francis of San Francisco, CA; two sisters, Marjorie Stivers of Belleville, ILL and Betty Crane of Clarksville, TN; a granddaughter Rebecca Broussard, and three great grandchildren.
Funeral services held at St. Henry's Church, Belleville, ILL.
