Mrs. Janice Albritton Whitehurst, 79, passed away unexpectedly at her residence on Friday, August 5, 2011.
The funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in the Wilkerson Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Pinewood Memorial Park.
Janice was the daughter of the late Geraldine Myers and Jack Albritton and a native of Greene County. She had been a resident of Greenville for more than 50 years where she and her late husband, George Thomas Whitehurst, owned and operated Tom's Restaurant for 30 years. As a graduate of East Carolina University (formerly East Carolina Teacher's College) she taught school for 11 years prior to opening their restaurant. She was a member of St. James United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Rachel Parris.
She is survived by her: son, Marc Whitehurst of Greenville; daughter, Jill W. Tucker and husband, Fred; grandson, Tripp Tucker all of Richmond Hill, GA; sister, Jane Albertson and husband, Hallie, of Beaulaville.
