Ethel D. Quedenfeld, 88, of Libertyville died Friday, March 28, 2008 at Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. She was a lifelong resident of Gurnee, IL, living in Libertyville for the past year. She was a graduate of Warren High School in Gurnee, IL and from Illinois State University with a bachelor's degree. Ethel was a home economics teacher at Antioch High School and also at Warren high school for many years. She was a long standing member of Gurnee Community Church where she was a former board member and deacon and also was involved in numerous community activities. Those who knew her well remember her apple pies and her no nonsense practical approach to solving problems and helping others.

She is survived by 3 children, Julie A. (Harry) Galloway of Belvidere, IL, Carl Quedenfeld of Indianapolis, IN, and Kathryn J. Hancock of Libertyville, IL; five grandchildren, Kim (Matt) Conboy of Roscoe, IL, Tim (Stephanie) Galloway of Boston, MA, David Hancock of Wonder Lake, IL, Chad Hancock of San Francisco, CA, and Jeffrey Svehla of Chicago, IL; one brother, Robert C. Dixon of Gurnee, IL; numerous nieces and nephews, and will be missed by many friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Quedenfeld, Jr. in 1952; by a granddaughter, Cora Ann Svehla in 1985; by a son-in-law, Dr. Arthur A. Hancock in 2005; and also by six brothers and sisters.

Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 1, 2008 at Gurnee Community Church, 4555 Old Grand Avenue, Gurnee, IL 60031. Interment will be at Hillside Cemetery in Antioch, IL. Memorial contributions can be made to the Gurnee Community Church in her memory. Arrangements made by, BURNETT-DANE FUNERAL HOME, LTD. 120 W. Park Avenue, Libertyville, IL.
