Mr. Leon "Frank" Strickland, 85, died Sunday August 11, 2013.
The funeral service will be conducted on Thursday at 11 am in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Homestead Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Strickland, a native of Martin County, had made his home in Pitt County for the last 70 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the Korean Conflict. He owned and operated Carolina Home Improvement and also was an ordained minister and had done nursing home ministry for 25 years.
He was preceded in death by a daughter Sheila Strickland. He is survived by his: wife of 61 years, Pearlie C. Strickland; daughters, Wanda S. Blake of Washington, and Jeanine S. Buck and husband, Tony, of Grimesland; sons, Robert L. Strickland of Washington, and Gary S. Strickland and wife, Bonnie, of Washington; 4 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 pm on Wednesday at Wilkerson Funeral Home.
