LOOGOOTEE — Ronald David Lents, 64, died at 2:49 p.m. Sunday at Memorial Hospital in Jasper. Born Oct. 26, 1946, in Loogootee, he was the son of Curtis and Marie (Alvey) Lents. A graduate of St. John's High School in Loogootee, he was a U.S. Army veteran. He retired in 2000 from Naval Surface Warfare Center Crane. He was a member of Mt. Zion Wesleyan Church, Jasper American Legion Post 147 and Shoals V.F.W. Post 8589. He is survived by two sons, Jason Lents and Shawn Lents, both of Shoals; one sister, Betty Newton of Jasper; two brothers, Larry Lents and Ed Lents, both of Loogootee; and several great nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and several brothers and sisters. The funeral will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Brocksmith Funeral Home in Loogootee. The body will be cremated and burial will follow in Mt. Zion Church Cemetery at a later date. Visitation is after 4 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
