From 1968, Chap led Southwire's entrance into aluminum production and was the first president of National-Southwire Aluminum Company in Hawesville, Kentucky. After a brief retirement, Chap joined Duffey Realty in Carrollton, where he became co-owner and managing broker. By the time he retired in 2003 due to failing health, he had helped build Duffey into the largest real estate brokerage in Carroll County and was the individual top sales producer in the area.
Chap was a life member of the National Rifle Association, the Marine Corps Retired Officers Association, the Carrollton Athletic Booster Club, the West Metro Board of Realtors, past Board Member of the Carroll County Chamber of Commerce and was past president of Sunset Hills Country Club.
