She had five brothers: Louis, Leon, Lonnie, Leonard and Lawrence; plus one sister, Lois.
The family moved from Texas to Oklahoma between 1920 and 1930.
Lottie met Harry Newton Whiles, and they married in 1936.
Unfortunately this story has a tragic ending.
On the evening of May 1, 1938, Lottie doubled over with excruciating pain in her abdomen. It would come and go, but she was very ill, vomiting and had a high fever.
Before anything further could be done, Lottie died within 24 hours.
An autopsy the next day revealed she had acute peritonitis, and the bacteria had caused her to become septic. It poisoned her body so quickly nothing could be done.
She was only 20 years old.
