Grace was the daughter of Jewett S. Dyer and Mina A. Simonson Dyer. The family relocated to Kortright about 1900 where her father was the owner and operator of a dairy farm. Grace married to Clarence John Mawhinney on 2 October 1912 at South Kortright, New York. They made their home first at Harpersfield, New York and then at Hobart, New York. Grace and Clarence were the parents of two children, Charles Everett Mawhinney and Mina Helen Mawhinney. The marriage ended in divorce and Grace married next to widower, Isaac E. Lamb. Grace and Isaac had no children. They made their home at Milford, New York where her husband was a retired owner and operator of a farm. Grace had a flower business and provided cakes for many local weddings. She was active with Royal Rebekah Lodge, Past Matrons Association of Otsego-Schoharie District, Goodyear Lake Grange, and the Hartwick chapter of Order of the Eastern Star. Grace resided for many years at Cliffside on Goodyear Lake. Her last residence was at Oneonta.
*Note-Family records indicate that Grace was born at Whiskey Hollow. Her first marriage record indicates that she was born at Harpersfield.
