Son of Henry Thomas Chamberlayne (1800 - 1875) and Mary Susanna Tomes (1802 - 1864).

He was baptized on the 4th May 1833 in Southam, Warwickshire.

Rev. Chamberlayne never married.

He attended Oxford University 1852 - 1858.
In 1871 Rev. Chamberlayne became the Rector of St. Peter's, Witherley, prior to this he had been the Curate for 14 years.

The Rev. E. T. Chamberlayne, who recently resigned the rector of Whitherley, died on the 12th inst., at his residence in London. He was buried on Tuesday at Whitherley, the Rev. Hugh Bacon and the Rev. S. T. Taylor-Taswell (the new Rector) read the funeral service. Among the mourners was Mr. S. B. Chamberlayne (brother of the deceased).

The Will of the Reverend Edward Tomes Chamberlayne, late of Witherley, in the County of Leicester, Clerk, who died 12th October 1887, at Albert Gate Mansions, Knightsbridge, in the County of Middlesex, was proved at the Principal Registry on the 28th November 1887 by Stanes Brocket Henry Chamberlayne, of Witherley, Esquire, Barrister at Law, the Brother, the sole Executor.
