Shirley M. Hemminger, 80, of Rock Island, passed away Thursday, July 3, 2014, at St. Mary's Medical Center, Galesburg,

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 9, at Rafferty Funeral Home, 2111 1st St. A, Moline, with visitation noon to service time. Burial will be at Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. A memorial fund has been established.

Shirley was born Feb. 22, 1934, in Boscobel, Wis., daughter of Frank and Mary Silvers Foust. She married William Marvin in 1937. She then married Ed Norman in 1945. Shirley later married Donald Hemminger in 1972, and he preceded her in death in 1997.

Shirley loved watching TV, storytelling and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her children, Rosemary Winters, Davenport, Mickey Marvin, California, Joanne Schutte, Davenport, Edward Norman, Davenport, Steve Norman, Rock Island, Brenda Norman, Davenport, Susan Lux, South Dakota, Charles Norman, Milan, and Roxana Davis, Davenport; 16 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four infant children and siblings, Ernie, Chris, Betsy, Florence and Violet.
