Lenard was the 4th son (9th child) of Aaron Joseph Smith and Georgia Emma Sims Smith. He married Clara Clark Leggitt in Reno, NV, 3 Dec 1941. Lenard was a carpenter and mechanic during WWII and post war years. He was seriously injured in an accident in the early 1950s and could no longer do physical labor. He and Clara later had a series of grocery stores. He was killed by a drunk driver. Internment was at Montecito Memorial Park on 10 March 1981
