Alberta “Bertie” Hoffecker Pordham Skillman, of Middletown, passed away on Thursday, April 15, 2005, at Christiana Hospital. She was 83.

Born in Newport on May 21, 1922, she was the daughter of the late David Wesley and Lidie Hoffecker McCrone Pordham. A graduate of Goldey College in 1943. She was a lifelong member and served as Clerk of Session for Forest Presbyterian Church in Middletown, on the board of directors for the Forest Presbyterian Cemetery, and as executive secretary and bookkeeper for The Lincoln Club of Delaware for more than 50 years. Alberta enjoyed gardening, crocheting, and traveling and loved baking, canning jellies and pickles, catering, and exhibiting in the local craft shows. Bertie will be sadly missed during Middletown's Peach Festival, Forest Church's Christmas Bazaar and Annual Homecoming Dinner.

Her husband, J. Frank Skillman, died in 1967. She is survived by her many cousins. Bertie had no children.
The funeral service was held at Forest Presbyterian Church on April 20. Interment was in Forest Cemetery, Middletown.
