Miss Hollie Knight, 20, of Hamburg, who was born July 18, 1983 in Monroe, LA, died Sunday, January 25, 2004 south of Hamburg. A lifelong resident of Hamburg, she graduated from Hamburg High School with highest honors in 2001 where she was captain of the dance line her senior year. She received numerous academic awards, was a FFA sweetheart and received several scholarships. She had recently applied to the School of Radiology at the University of Arkansas Medical School in Little Rock. She had attended Arkansas Tech in Russellville where she was the secretary of the Delta Zeta Sorority for two years and had attended the University of Arkansas in Monticello. She was currently employed at the True Value Home Center in Hamburg and the Monsanto Cotton Experiment Station in Leland, Mississippi.
She is survived by her parents, Richard C. and Sandra Holland Knight; one brother, Jeff Knight; her grandmothers, Nell Watson Holland and Dorothy Ludlam Knight, all of Hamburg; one aunt, four uncles and a host of cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Dale Holland and Henry Knight.
Funeral services were planned for 2 p.m., Tuesday, January 27, in the First Baptist Church with Dr. Bobby Pennington officiating. Burial was to follow services at the Hamburg Cemetery under the direction of Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home of Hamburg. Pallbearers were to be Britt Barnes, Ben Cunningham, Heath Breedlove, Kirby Bonds, Billy Golden, Arron Murphy, Payton Shelton and Brandon Murphy. Honorary pallbearers were to be members of the 2001 Senior Class of Hamburg High School.
