Roger Ray Sewell from Charlottesville, Virginia, formerly of Texarkana, Arkansas, and New Orleans, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 9, 2014, at the age of 89. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Clyde and Mary McBride Sewell of Texarkana, Arkansas. He is survived by his sister, Mary Lois Sewell Northcutt Jordan of Charlotte, North Carolina; his four children, Stephen Scott Sewell and Chris Sewell LaRosa of New Orleans, Louisiana, Rowley McBride Sewell of Charlottesville, Virginia, and Lesley Elizabeth Sewell of Crozet, Virginia; and two nephews, Robert C. Northcutt and James H. Northcutt. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Stephen Thomas Sewell, Matthew Scott Sewell, John William Sewell, and Steven Ray LaRosa of New Orleans, Abigail Page Sewell and Ethan Rowley Sewell of Charlottesville, Virginia, and Patrick Austen Keller and Thomas Alan Keller of Crozier, Virginia. Roger Ray Sewell was born and grew up in Texarkana, Arkansas, after moving from Pleasant Hill, Arkansas. He attended Texarkana Senior High School and received a BS in business from the University of Arkansas, where he was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity. During World War II, he served in the Navy in the Pacific Theater. After having enlisted in the Air Force Reserves upon returning home, he was called back into active duty and became Provost Marshall of the 516th Air Wing at Pease Air Force Base in Memphis, Tennessee. After this, he began a 35 year career with Crawford and Company Insurance Adjusters, managing the New York and New Orleans offices. He was a longtime member of the Mardi Gras Krewe of Endymion, a big fan of the Saints, LSU and the Razorbacks, and supported Paralyzed Veterans and St. Jude. He spent his retirement years on Pensacola Beach, in New Orleans, and Charlottesville, Virginia, where he passed away. Interment will be at the Lake Lawn Cemetery Mausoleum in New Orleans, Louisiana.
