Mr. Ray Evans, 66, of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee, who was born September 16, 1937 in Monticello, died Monday, January 12, 2004 at the Summit Medical Center in Hermitage, Tennessee. A resident of Mt. Juliet for the past ten years, and a former resident of Hamburg, he was a Baptist. He was a veteran of the United States Army, a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Confederate Air Force Association and a former member of the Arkansas National Guard. He was preceded in death by his father, George W. Evans, in 1986.


He is survived by two sons, Scott Evans and wife Nicki of Mayfield, KY and Michael Evans of Dexter, MO; his mother, Etta Yeldell Evans of Crossett; a brother, Ronald Evans of Bryan; a sister, Virginia Henricks of Bellaire, TX; and one granddaughter, Cassandra Evans.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m., Friday, January 16, in the Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Crossett with the Rev. Eric Hodges officiating. Pallbearers were Brian, Clyde and Harold Farmer, Larry Land, Joe Sasser and Mike Smith. Burial followed services at Pinewood Memorial Park under the direction of Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home of Hamburg
