DOROTHY BROWN DOUGLAS

Dorothy Susan Brown Douglas, 84, of Kansas City, formerly of the Lebanon area, died Friday morning, June 8, 2001, in Baptist Medical Center in Kansas City.

She was born Sept. 18, 1916, near Competition, to Charles Ira Chambers and Mary Lattius Durbin Chambers. In 1935 she married Thisie Dick Brown, who died March 6, 1972. In 1975 she married Bill Douglas, who died on June 21, 1985. She also was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; and a brother, Delmar Chambers.

Mrs. Douglas owned and operated a day-care center and also owned and managed an apartment building in Kansas City for many years. She was a charter member of Central Free Will Baptist Church in Kansas City.

She is survived by two brothers, Wilbur Chambers of Kansas City and Lowell Chambers of McKinney, Texas; four sisters, Charlotte Richardson Anderson and Cledith Sherrell, both of Lee's Summit; Betty Dill of Conway; and Lucille Winters of Kansas City; also a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Dorothy Susan Brown Douglas will be held at 2 p.m. today, Sunday, June 10, 2001, in the Holman-Howe Chapel with the Rev. David Douglas officiating. Burial will be in the McBride Cemetery near Competition, under the direction of the Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon.

Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. today in the funeral home.
