Carl was my Father-In-Law. His Father and Mother was, Samuel Evans Gantt, and Edith Irene Smyre Sigmon Campbell. He was a Naval cook during WWII. He loved to fish, have family members over, and garden. He grew the best tomatoes ever. He married Mary Canipe in 1948. Carl was President of the Catawba Valley Hosiery Association, in the mid to late 1970s. He was also 3rd owner of Y.E.&S. hosiery mill in Catawba, NC.(Y.E.&S., Yount, Edwards and Sigmon). He had two sons, and five Grandchildren. My Son, Husband and I took care of Carl, for the last several months of his life, we wouldn't change spending time with him for anything. His half siblings include, Claude, Margie, and Becky; all deceased. Carl passed from complications of C.O.P.D. at a local Hospital.
