PENDLETON- Gordon E. Burke, 82, passed away July 1, 2014 at St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital.
He was born March 31, 1932 in Pendleton and was a lifelong resident.
Gordon was a lifelong farmer and retired from Guide in Anderson after 35 years service as a plastic die setter.
He was an Army veteran.
Gordon was a 1950 graduate of Pendleton High School where he was active in FFA. He was a ten year member of 4-H and member of Indiana Farm Bureau; Duroc Swine Association; and UAW Union Local 1963.
Survivors include his wife, Martha (Woodruff) Burke whom he married on August 1, 1954; three children, Kevin (Sarah) Burke of Pendleton, Rochelle (Terry) Helderman of Paris, Illinois and Roletta (Matthew) Pape of West Terre Haute; two sisters, Karen (Denny) Gooding of Anderson and Frances (Dennis) Sizelove of Alexandria; nine grandchildren, Nathan (Brittany) Burke, Nicholas Burke, Jared Burke, Terra (Matt) Deakins, Sierra Helderman, Kyle Helderman, Travan Pape, Bryland Pape and Briston Pape; two great grandsons, Maverick and Rockston; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald B. and Mary A. (Anderson) Burke; and his brother, Lewis E. Burke.
Services will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, July 6, 2014 at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory, Lahm Chapel in Pendleton with Pastor Steve Gettinger of Whetstone Christian Church officiating. Burial will follow in Huntsville Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m., Saturday, July 5, 2014 at Lahm Chapel.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Pendleton Heights High School, FFA Chapter, One Arabian Drive, Pendleton, IN 46064 or Pendleton 4-H Livestock Booster Club, c/o Mike Smith, 7137 W. 675 S., Pendleton, IN 46064.
