Parents Samuel & Susan Mowrer, both born Pennsylvania before 1806. Their young family traveled from Wayne, Ohio to Wayne, Indiana, and later to Chester, Wabash, Indiana.

On 16 Apr 1857 Edward married Lydia A. Mendenhall in Wabash County, Indiana. Edward served in the Civil War, his 1863 draft registered in Wabash, Indiana where he is listed as Married age 31. Private in Company I 46 Regiment, Indiana Infantry, Civil War.

Papers can be found in the McLean County Illinois Probate Office under 1888, Volume X page 22,45
