Judith "Judy" Smith, 75, of Loves Park, Illinois passed away in her home on Friday, June 27, 2014. Judy was born in Rockford to Willis and Doris Moore on May 7, 1939. She graduated from Rockford East High School in 1957. Shortly after, she met and married Robert (Bob) Smith on October 5, 1957. This was the start of a loving marriage, lasting 57 years which resulted in 2 children and 2 grandchildren. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker who was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family. Judy was also employed by the Harlem School District as a school bus driver for more than 44 years until her recent retirement. Judy was a Pancreatic Cancer survivor for the past 18 years and took advantage of that time by being the best "Grandma" she could be. Judy loved life, her family, and her friends and enjoyed entertaining, spending time with her family and beating them all in card games. Judy is preceded in death by her parents, Willis and Doris Moore; and sister, Dawn Healy.
Judy is survived by her husband, Bob; son, Kurt (Monica) Smith; daughter, Kelly (Scott) Stoker; two grandchildren, Drake Stoker and Rakel Stoker.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 30, 2014, at Sunset Funeral and Memorial Gardens, 8800 N Alpine Rd, Machesney Park, IL 61115.
Funeral service at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 1, at Sunset Funeral and Memorial Gardens.
