WILLIAM POTTER ::;

William Edwin Potter, a fifth generation Nevadan, passed away Friday, April 19, 2013. He was born May 28, 1964, in Las Vegas. A fisherman, hiker, jokester and car restorer, he had happiness in his heart and a smile on his face, and will be missed by his family and friends. He loved the wide open spaces of Nevada--hiking, shooting, four-wheeling and fishing. His family and global group of friends gave him joy. A dealer and floor supervisor by trade, he spent 12 years at the Sahara and was currently at the Quad (Imperial Palace). He was preceded in death by his father, William Edwin Potter; his stepfather, Dan Robertson; his mother-in-law, Anne Taffaro; his paternal grandparents, William and Betty Potter; and his maternal grandparents, George and Thelma Potter. He leaves behind his wife, Jo-Anne Potter; his mother, Terri Robertson; his daughter, Jessica (Jeff) Caldwell of Hawaii; his sons, George Potter of the Philippines, and Thomas McLean of Connecticut; his granddaughter, Jaycee Caldwell of Hawaii; his sisters, Polly (John) Brinkley, Karen (Gabe) Valerio and Patricia Long of Las Vegas; his nephews, John Brinkley of Kauai, Jeff (Ashley) Long and Stacey (Christine) Wesley; his nieces, Monica Valerio and Michelle Valerio; his grandnephew, King Long; his half-brother, Michael Potter; his half-sisters, Kathleen Gonzales, Jeanetta Reese and Gequitha Pitschneieer. He also leaves behind his father-in-law, Joe Taffaro; his aunts, Eva Tucker of California, Sophia Potter and Jeanne Dickey of Oklahoma; his uncle, Dan Potter; his valued friend, Bobby Mendoza; and numerous cousins, whom he loved dearly. He also leaves behind his "animal" family, dogs, Buddy, Pebbles, George and Peyton; cats, Sunny, Dakota and Angel; desert tortoise, Sally; water turtles, Freddy, Jack and Marty; along with a koi pond full of fish. Celebration of life will be at 4:30 p.m., Saturday, May 18, at Tule Springs Park.
