Forrest W. Slinkard, 81, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, June 23, 2014 at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born December 12, 1932 in Cape Girardeau to Henry and Pearl Fowler Slinkard.
He and Vonda Lea Hammack were married June 5, 1976 at Cape Girardeau, Mo.
Forrest was a veteran of both the Navy and Air Force and served in the Korean War.
He was the business representative for the Local Painters Union.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church and V.F.W. Post 3838. He was Past State Commander of Amvets.
Survivors include his wife, Vonda Lea Slinkard and two sons, Scott (Patricia) Sander and Franklin John Sander, III all of Cape Girardeau; grandchildren, Justin Scott (Hannah) Sander of Boone, N.C., Toni Jo Ervin of Cape Girardeau; great-grandchildren, Lucy Mae Sander, Forrest Scott Sander, and Cynthia Izetta Sander, Liah Jo Ervin.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Burial will be at Cape County Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau. Full military honors will be provided by Missouri Honors Team.
