Beautiful young lady,'the baby' of her family, raised in a Baptist family, loved to dance and 'ran off to marry' my grandfather whom everyone called 'Dub' who was strongly disliked by Great-Grandfather Jesse Wilson .

Very traditional Southern wife & Mother. Bore 5 children (twins Billy & Betty still-born), and settled in James Island,SC .She was a member of James Island Baptist Church.
She loved traveling to the NC Mountains & spoke fondly of returning to the 'Georgia Clay' of her family.

Upon his retirement from civil service @ The Charleston Naval Base, Nanny & Pa-Pa moved to Anderson,SC & were Owner/Prioprieter of "Nation Shell Gas & General" store in Anderson. Pa-Pa sadly suffered a debilitating stroke. They sold their home/business and moved to Belton,SC where Pa-Pa passed.Nanny cared for him until his death.
She married Robert Sisk for a short time & he subsequently died.

Nanny moved to Aiken to live near her son,William Thomas "Tommy" Nation; she battled periods of mental illness, she always stated she was troubled due to her Mothers early death & her Father losing 'his money' during the depression era.

She loved her children and grandchildren with all her heart! I have wonderful memories of picking blackberries during her walks & coming back to help her turn them into her fabulous blackberry preserves ( which is my favorite to this day) 'She walked the talk' in her faith. She listened to Old time gospel and could quote scripture without hesitation.Nanny never went to sleep without kneeling in prayer beside her bed-many nights I witnessed her prayers saying mine as well beside her.

Nanny drank chicory coffee in her blue willow china , she baked biscuits and corn bread every day, made fresh brewed tea everyday, canned all her preserves- her figs & blackberry were the favorites! She was always up & running her household at 4am daily, kept a very trim figure by walking everyday and eating a very light 'supper' in the evening as we know in the Old South-dinner is noontime! She loved perfume & wore 'L'air du Temps' or when times were tough "Windsong", wore her first pair of ladies trousers after Pa-Pa passed-she was tickled to finally wear pants & shorts! She adored wearing leather mocassins, loved red geraniums, and pink was her favorite color.
