In 1948, Jone Pedersen Codding Wilson graced the cover of the August 23rd, 1948 issue of, "LIFE Magazine" posing with, "Bucky The Deer", an orphaned deer taken in by family friends that Jone like playing with. The iconic image would be used 47 years later in 1995 as the cover for Dishwalla's debut album, "Pet Your Friends", which featured the #1 hit single, "Counting Blue Cars". Jone became Miss California in 1949 and was the Fourth Runner-Up for Miss America that same year. Jone died married to Edwin M. Wilson, an insurance broker and rear admiral in the U.S. Naval Air Force Reserve. On March 27th, 1976, she died at just 43 years-old in her Santa Rosa, California home.
