There is "SPECULATION" by some that Mary Anderson's maiden name "may have been Gilder."

NOTE: There is 'NO PROOF' and 'NO CIRCUMSTANTIAL EVIDENCE' SHOWING Mary's maiden name was Gilder! Mary named her third daughter Ruth Gilley or Ruth Gildard Anderson. Some documents show the middle name as Gilley, some as Gildard. The speculation that Mary was a Gilder is based on her third daughter's middle name.

Mary was born in SC and she died between 1860-1870 in the vicinity of Forks of Pigeon in Haywood County, North Carolina.

One document suggests Mary's name may have been Hannah. This same document suggests Mary was the child of a female named R. L. Longswamp, who was 1/2 American Indian. This document has a great deal of information that is incorrect, therefore, please note the name "Hannah" is only a "proposed" name and that there has never been any evidence of any connection to anybody by the name of R. L. Longswamp.

It appears both Mary and her husband are buried without markers. Their graves have not been located.
