Born Oct. 13, 1903, in Chambersburg, he was a son of the late Murray C. and Maude Arris Mower.
A 1921 graduate of Chambersburg High School, he also completed numerous banking courses.
During a career in banking that spanned 47 1/2 years with Valley National Bank, he was manager of the Letterkenny Army Depot branch facility. He also opened the St. Thomas Branch Bank, which he managed until his retirement on Dec. 31, 1968.
He was a Charter member of Park Avenue United Methodist Church, where he was active in the Sunday school department for more than 70 years and was Sunday school superintendent for more than 20 years.
He was treasurer of District 1 of the Franklin County Sunday School Association for 10 years.
He was a scoutmaster for 4 years.
A past president of The Art Association, Mr. Mower was interested in oil painting.
He and his wife, Thelma Shields Mower, were married Sept. 14, 1926. They were the first couple to be married in Park Avenue United Methodist Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Donald S. of Mower Road;
He was preceded in death by a son and a brother.
