Scott B. McDaniel, age 62, of Topeka, Kansas, passed away on June 11, 2014, at Select Specialty Hospital. Scott was born on December 14, 1951 in Columbia, Missouri. He was an Eagle Scout, winning the God and Country award from the Boy Scouts of America. He graduated from Shawnee Mission East High School in Prairie Village, Kansas; he earned a B.S. degree in geology and psychology from Colorado College in Colorado Springs, Colorado; and, he earned a M.S. degree in geology from the University of Nevada, Reno, Nevada from the Mackay School of Mines with a legacy, petroleum thesis. He was a registered geologist in the states of Nevada, Kansas, and Missouri. He excelled in water clean-up. He began his career working for Raymond International in Lagos, Nigeria, where he helped to develop the "ring road" and bridge from the island to the mainland. This bridge and road enabled shipping cargo to move from the dock to the mainland. He then worked as a geologist in Casper, Wyoming for United Nuclear to mine uranium. He was the founder of the Nevada Petroleum Society, a member of the Sons of the American Revolution (Russell, Waddell, and Majors chapter in Kansas City, Missouri), and a member of Global Who's Who. Funeral services will be held at 8:00 pm, June 16, 2014, at Overland Park Chapel, 8201 Metcalf Avenue, Overland Park, Kansas 66204. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 16, 2014, from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Overland Park Chapel. He will be buried in Darrouzett, Texas on June 18, 2014.
