Joseph William Rohr, 57, of 1403 Pleasant View Street, died Thursday, June 5, 2014, at Fidura Group Home, Staunton, Virginia. He was born October 2, 1956, in Staunton, a son of the late Preston Henry and Mary Margaret Campbell Rohr.

Family members include a stepmother, Ruby Deacon Rohr of Waynesboro, Virginia; a brother and sister-in-law, John P. and Ann Rohr of Stuart Draft, Virginia; and a sister and brother-in-law, Mary E. and Russell Knight of Stuart Draft and their families.

As a special person with Downs Syndrome, "Joey" made many friends through his group home, his activities in his day program, the Meals on Wheels he helped deliver, and all the caregivers that have helped him and cared for him. "Joey" said only a few words but had a gentle touch and reflected his true spirit. He loved balloons, his big Lego blocks, wooden puzzles, and small toys. He loved Christmas lights, listening to music, and his favorite place on the sofa.

A funeral service will be at 2 p.m., Monday, June 9, 2014, in the Henry Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Frank Hall. Burial will follow in Thornrose Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the Henry Funeral Home.

The family of "Joey" would like to thank Fidura & Associates, the staff, the caregivers, and his friends at his group home. Each one did a wonderful job in helping to care for "Joey".
