Billy R. Bales, 75, formerly of Delphi, died Fri-May 30, 2014, at 8:21pm at IU Health Arnett Hospital-Laf. He had been a resident at Rose Walk Village for the past 3 yrs. He was born Dec. 24, 1938 in Lafayette, to the late Carl Bales & Isabelle L. Hann Wilson. He was a 1958 graduate of Battle Ground High School. He worked at TRW-Lafayette for 38 years as a machine operator, retiring from there. He was a former member of the Eagles & Moose Lodges-Laf., IOOF Lodge and VFW 9383 both in Delphi. He enjoyed fishing & hunting, bowling in a men's league, pitching horseshoe's, playing cards, and loved the Indianapolis Pacers. Billy was everyone's best friend, he never met a stranger. Surviving: daughter-Julie Wettschurack of Lafayette; sister-Carmelita & Ed Hawk of Delphi; brother: Duane & Doris Ann Johnson of Delphi; half brother-Michael A. "Tony" Bales of Bloomington; 2 grandchildren: Chellane Slaybaugh & Cory Wettschurack. Preceded in death by a daughter Janelle Bales. Services: Friends may call Tuesday from 10:30am until his funeral service at 11:30am at Abbott Funeral Home-Delphi. Burial at Battle Ground Cemetery. Memorial contributions to Rose Walk Village.
